Sight
Words – All students must learn
these words. Please encourage practicing
at home. I refer to the sight words as “See and Say” words. See
the word, Say the word.
“Outlaw
words” are words that do not follow the “phonics rules”. Sometimes they are more difficult words to
remember and/or learn. When there is an “outlaw” word/s they will have actions and/or
a riddle, so students will learn the word by association with the action or
riddle.
Sharing
for this week is the short vowel “a”.
Bring an object that has the short “a” vowel sound. Some examples would be an apple, picture of
an ant, picture of an alligator, a hat, a cat, etc.
Don’t
forget to contribute $2.00 to the
party fund. Thank you to those who have
already donated. If you are interested
in helping out as a room parent for any of the three parties or special
projects, field trips, etc., please complete the parent survey and return to
school by Friday, September 26th.

Retake Day is Wednesday, October 1st.
Here
is the grading scale for first grade:
93%-100%
= 4 80%-92% = 3
60%-79% = 2 59% and Below = 1
As
the weather gets cooler, make sure your child has a jacket or coat. Gloves/mittens and/or something for the head
or ears may also be needed. Speaking of
weather, we will be graphing the daily temperature for the next two weeks. We will use this information for an
assessment regarding the weather.
Thank
you to all the families supporting the weekly note and doing the homework. It is very important that parents read and do
the homework with their children.
If
you have any questions or concerns, please call, send a note, or stop by.
